Terms & Conditions
Last updated: September 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Bespoke Sikkim website and the travel services we arrange. By enquiring, booking, or travelling with us, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully.
1. About us
Bespoke Sikkim is a locally rooted travel studio based in Gangtok, Sikkim, India, curating tailor-made journeys across Sikkim and the Eastern Himalayas. We are a registered travel agency with the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim (Reg. No. 1390/Dot&Cav/E/21/TA). In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Bespoke Sikkim, and “you” refers to the person making the booking and all travellers in the party.
2. Enquiries & quotations
Every journey we design is bespoke. Quotations are based on the itinerary, dates, number of travellers, and services agreed at the time, and are valid for the period stated in the quote. Prices may change if any of these details change, or due to factors outside our control such as hotel tariffs, permit fees, fuel costs, or applicable taxes.
3. Bookings
A booking is confirmed only once we have received the required deposit and issued a written confirmation. It is your responsibility to check that all names, dates, and details on your confirmation are correct and to tell us immediately of any errors.
4. Payments
- A deposit is required to confirm your booking, with the balance due before the start of your journey, as stated in your confirmation.
- Some services (such as certain hotels, flights, or peak-season bookings) may require full or non-refundable payment at the time of booking.
- Payments can be made through the methods we specify. Any bank or transaction charges are borne by you.
5. Cancellations & refunds
If you need to cancel, please tell us in writing as early as possible. Cancellation charges apply based on how far in advance you cancel and any non-refundable costs already committed on your behalf (hotels, permits, transport, and third-party bookings). The specific cancellation terms for your journey will be shared with your quotation and confirmation. Refunds, where due, are processed to the original payment method within a reasonable time.
6. Changes by you
We will do our best to accommodate changes to a confirmed booking, but cannot guarantee them, and any additional costs charged by suppliers will be passed on to you.
7. Changes by us
Travel in the mountains depends on conditions on the ground. Weather, landslides, roadblocks, permit restrictions, and other circumstances may require us to adjust routes, accommodation, or activities. Where a change is necessary, we will offer the closest reasonable alternative of comparable standard.
8. Permits & documentation
Parts of Sikkim are protected areas requiring Inner Line Permits or Protected Area Permits, which we arrange on your behalf. You are responsible for carrying valid identification (and passport and visa for foreign nationals) and for providing accurate documents in time. We are not liable for any loss arising from incorrect, incomplete, or late documentation, or from permits being refused by the authorities.
9. Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that all travellers hold comprehensive travel insurance covering medical care, evacuation, trip cancellation, and personal belongings. Travel in high-altitude regions carries inherent risks, and adequate cover is your responsibility.
10. Health & fitness
Several destinations sit at high altitude. You should ensure you are medically fit to travel and inform us of any medical conditions, dietary needs, or mobility requirements in advance so we can plan accordingly.
11. Your conduct
We ask that you respect local customs, communities, wildlife, and the environment, and follow reasonable instructions from our team and guides for your safety. We may decline to continue services, without refund, if a traveller’s behaviour endangers others or seriously disrupts the journey.
12. Third-party services
Some elements of your journey are provided by independent suppliers such as hotels, transport operators, and activity providers. While we choose partners carefully, we act as an organiser and are not liable for the acts, omissions, or default of third parties.
13. Liability
We take great care in planning and running your journey. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss, injury, delay, or damage arising from events beyond our reasonable control, or from services provided by third parties. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
14. Force majeure
We are not responsible for failure to perform, or delays in performing, our obligations where caused by events beyond our control, including natural disasters, extreme weather, landslides, strikes, government action, pandemics, or civil unrest.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Sikkim, India.
