A calm morning circuit of three of Gangtok’s most important monasteries, ideal for a gentle, spiritual start to your trip.

Gateway to Sikkim
Experience the energy of Sikkim’s capital alongside monasteries, viewpoints, local culture, cafés and surrounding Himalayan landscapes.
Most journeys through Sikkim begin in Gangtok, and for good reason. The capital sits on a ridge with the mountains on every side, a lively town of markets, monasteries and cafés that makes an easy, comfortable base for the days ahead.
We use the time here to settle in gently. Wander the pedestrian stretch of MG Marg in the evening, visit the Enchey and Rumtek monasteries, ride up to a viewpoint for the first sight of the high peaks, and get a feel for everyday Sikkimese life before heading deeper into the hills.
